BRADEN MADDOX KARDOES

My nephew Braden Maddox Kardoes came into my life on saturday March 19, 2011 at 5:41 pm!!!  He topped the charts at 9 lbs. and 21 inches.  He's one healthy BIG boy!!!
There's a story with his entrance, not a lovely one.  I had a busy day planned out that day.  It started off as my sister going into the hospital to get induced for Braden to come in the early a.m. and then my friend's wedding at 4 in the afternoon in Downtown Denver.  I set my alarm early so I can get ready for the day and make my way to the hospital before he comes and wait till until he does.  I was all ready and put my dress and stuff for the wedding in my car and then on my way.  I knew I'd be there all day until the wedding since you never know when they're really coming and figured, who wears a dress to the hospital?!  Well the day kept going and it came around the time to go to the wedding in an hour or so.  Well the doctors come in and we needed to leave the room as they did some stuff with Dacia.  It ended up being more than an hour and when I saw the time I had only 30 minutes to get to Denver for the wedding.  Had I not left my keys and purse in the room I could've seen the time and left from there and make it to the wedding since he wasn't here yet.  That was my plan- bring wedding stuff and when he was born go see him, since I figured he'd be born while I was at the wedding, then go back to the wedding and have fun.  Well that plan didn't work out how it was planned out in my brain and so I SADLY missed my friend's wedding.  I suppose I could've just made a very late entrance to the wedding but figured that wasn't right for me to do so I opted out of that option and missed the WHOLE wedding night fun.  Darn it for that to happen :(
All in all...I happily have a new nephew in my life joining his sister Rylee to bring me all the joy in life that I need!!!!

COMP CARD

Alright alright...so I was looking around craigslist for certain things and came across this listing of models needed.  I couldn't resist to email the person who posted it because it was perfect for what I was looking for, other than the reason I was looking on craigslist.  I was ready to pursue a modeling career 5 years ago and then my accident came upon me and halted that search in my life.  During the close to 5 years of recovering I have become more out going and that person again wanting to pursue modeling.  I was given 10 out of the 29 shots for free.  I often get my picutres printed at Walgreens and I get emails from them and I got one for a free collage print of pictures.  I thought it was perfect for what I need...a COMP CARD to show agents/people my modeling pictures.  There were 29 shots of me to choose from and so I did just that and chose these ones to put in the collage for my very first COMP CARD.  Now it's time to edit the card and put my basic info in and then it can really be my comp card.  If it doesn't work out, it was fun doing my first shoot in I'd say like 9 years.  Hopefully there will be more shoots to be done!!!  Let's see if it gets me anywhere...

My sister's baby shower

So when I heard my sister is pregnant I had the immediate thought of "I GOTTA THROW HER A BABY SHOWER!"  In all reality, I had this thought way before she actually became pregnant and just kept wondering when she was ready to have her 2nd child 'cause I knew she didn't want just one.  Well that time came and so I was on my baby shower mission.  My sister's friends and mom, my step-mom, wanted to give her one too so we actually all went in together for throwing her a shower.  It started out as just the normal blue stuff for a baby boy, since that's what she's having.  We went and got the decor, plain blue & white, and were half way through the planning.  Well then I came across these table clothes that were SOOO much better than just plain blue.  They were blue, brown, and green.  I thought it was so much cuter so I asked if we could change it.  My sister ended up liking those colors better so I got the ok to change it.  I even found this cute ribbon with blue and green before that so that worked out perfectly that I got it before.  I was thinking about nursery rhymes and such and remembered the FROGS & SNAILS & PUPPY DOG TAILS- THAT'S WHAT LITTLE BOYS ARE MADE OF one and so that was so perfect to incorporate into the shower.  I then went and got blue, brown, and green paper and made a framed sign with that saying.  I then found the letter B and knew I could do something with it to incorporate his name.  I think the shower turned out to be a good one and Dacia is one lucky girl to have family and friends that couldn't resist participating in it.
I'm pretty bumbed that I ended up not taking any pictures of the decor and everything 'cause that is what I usually do the best!!!  I was just too busy trying to make sure it turn out to be perfect.  BUMMER!!!  Oh well now but here's some shots that I did take at the shower...

Here are the decorations I made.  Because I changed the theme of the shower I just knew
I could find cute things for it.  Luckily I found some frogs, snails, and puppy dog tails at Michaels.  That was just a perfect find.  I painted the board brown and glued them on it for a cute little decor when you walk into the room.  I then found a perfect size B letter and some cute, and cheap, ribbon to go on it.  I painted the B brown as well and then glued the ribbon on it with Mod Podge.
Of course there's always the guessing game of how many jelly beans there are.
There were 222 jelly beans of each color: blue, brown, and green, in the blue bottle.
(This isn't how it was set up at the shower)

Here's the set up at the shower of the decor I made,
minus the jelly bean baby bottle and the new chalk board
lined with the same ribbon on the B, added so people
could walk in and learn the name of my nephew to be's name
BRADEN MADDOX KARDOES
(his name was written with blue chalk but it's hard to see
because of the glare from the flash)

The baby shower in my neighborhood party room...

Gotta LOVE Target!  I went walking through Target a few day before the shower and stumbled upon these popcorn holders in the dollar spot.  Since they were only one dollar each I got a few and just knew they could be used some how at the shower for cute decorations and snacks.  I thought I could just make some cute picture and saying and glue it to the cup.  I did just that then filled 'em up with popcorn.
I think they turned our just fine but could've turned out a little cutter.

Here's the cake I made, once again.  I am not pleased with my cake AT ALL!!!  This is the third time I've made it for the third baby shower I've done.  For some reason it turned out to be the worst out of the other ones.  I think the first one was the "perfect" one.  I think it turned out like this because of the lack of time and maybe old fondant but really lack of time probably.  I planned to finish it all the night before the shower but it just didn't turn out like that 'cause I was getting tired from finishing up other things and figured I could do the fondant in the morning before the shower started.  I'm either thinking the fondant I used was maybe too old to use so that's why it cracked SOO easily or I was just trying to work with it too fast.
Either way a cake is a cake and this is what it officially turned out to look like...
Looks shouldn't be everything because everyone LOVED the taste of it- COOKIES 'N' CREAM

Cute BIG SISTER RYLEE was helping mommy with her presents.  Dacia's 2 best friends
were the ones who wrote everything down for the thank you cards and gave her the presents and took
the trash away- along with Rylee helping with presents.
And then there was me: THE PHOTOGRAPHER...

All in all her shower turned out to be just great and she got lots of amazing things for her up and coming
first baby boy!!!  I know Rylee's gonna be the BEST big sister!!!
I'm now patiently waiting for my nephew
BRADEN MADDOX KARDOES
to get here already.  I do have a few weeks of waiting
though 'cause he isn't due to be here until March 16th.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO MY GIRL!!!

I went over to bring my niece Rylee her Valentine, watermelon sour patch kids, and learned that she's home sick with no school for the day. That didn't mean that she wouldn't get her Valentine from me. Maybe a little candy can make her feel better right?! HEHE!!!

Bar stools...

So I've had my bar up for quite awhile down in my basement and kept thinking it needs to look a little more bar like, maybe with chairs.  I started off and got the HAPPY HOUR sign off of ART.com/ and so that was my first step to dress up my bar.  I then was having this thought of what kind of chairs/stools I wanted.  I was looking around at all the chairs out there and of course they were all quite pricey.  Well then that gave me the idea to look on good 'ole CRAIGSLIST for some decent priced chairs.  I luckily came across 2 black stools and HAD TO GET 'EM!!!  The bonus was that they weren't expensive what so ever.  Maybe $20 for both if I remember right.  After awhile I got sick of walking past some plain boring black stools so I was thinking of what I could do to them to incorporate my "SPORTS BAR" theme with my Broncos and Rockies stuff that is already up on the walls.  I went around to the fabric stores to find some fabric of the teams to put on them and that was not successful and so of course I couldn't think of a better place than EBAY to find some fabric of the teams.  Got rich with those findings!!!  Got the fabric and so my "SPORTS BAR" endevour began...

Beginning of my bar once I got the sign...

The stools were bought as black stools but they both needed some touch ups on the paint.
I went and got some black spray paint and doctored 'em up to be like this...

Went and got some Matte MOD PODGE and put it on for the fabric to be put on the stools...

I decided to put more MOD PODGE on but the glossy kind this time...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY MOMMY...

MY friend asked me to watch her kids as she went to a single moms event through our church. I couldn't say no 'cause she has the sweetest little boys that I always have fun with. Valentine's Day is right around the corner so of course I had the thought that the boys should make their mom a cute little Valentine. I went searching through the house for any sort of crafty stuff they had and found some giggily eyes. I came across this owl Valentine idea and used it with them. It's an owl on each with two different sayings 'cause I felt they couldn't have the same saying but just decorate it differently. I drew the owl and wrote the sayings that I came up with, although I'm sure they're said out there somewhere, and the boys colored their own then we signed it with their names together.
The older brother's, Brendan- 3, Valentine said "OWL always love you! Love, Brendan".
And the little brother's, Justin- 1, Valentine said "OWL love you forever! Love, Justin".
I think their mom's heart is gonna melt when she comes home and sees them because they turned out to be so cute!
